We received the engraved monogram sterling candle holder from my in lawsfor engagement present five years ago. It has belonged to Husband's grandfather, who happened to have the same initials as I do.
My aunt gave me the monogrammed cigarette box, which has belonged to my granfather. He received it from his sisters as a gift when he got a position as university professor. It's not sterling silver, but it does not matter to me, it is a pretty little box and a family heirloom.
