Preparing for May Day brunch

 

 

 

Aloin jo sunnuntain valmistella Vappupäivän brunssia tekemällä pestoa perunasalaattia varten ja paistamalla marenkeja.

Eilen ripustettiin viirinauhat (Tiger) ja paperikoristeet (Pariisista), tänään on vielä illalla buffetpöydän kattaminen sekä kuppikakkujen paisto ja täyttö edessä, cocktailmakkaroiden pursotusta, hedelmien lohkomista, sämpylätaikinan tekoa yms. Välillä syödään jotain hyvää ja kohotetaan lasilliset kuohuvaa. Huomisaamuna loppurutistus ennen ystävien saapumista.

Sitruuna- ja minttumarengit

 

3 kananmunanvalkuaista

2,5 dl taloussokeria tai 2 dl tomusokeria

2 tl sitruunamehua tai etikkaa

 

Vaahdota kananmunan valkuaiset ilmavaksi ja kestäväksi vaahdoksi sähkövatkaimella tai yleiskoneessa. Vaahdon on pysyttävä kulhossa, vaikka sen kääntäisi ympäri. Lisää sokeri pienissä erissä koko ajan voimakkaasti vaahdottaen. Jatka vaahdottamista kunnes vaahto on kiiltävää ja tasaista.

Lisää elintarvikeväriä teelusikalla ja sekoita marenki tasaisen väriseksi. Voit myös jakaa marengin osiin ja värjätä osat eri väreillä.  Kaksinkertaistin reseptin ja jaoin sen kahteen osaan; toisen värjäsin keltaisella ja maustoin sitruunankuorella ja sitruunaöljyllä. Toisen osan maustoin piparminttuöljyllä ja värjäsin vihreäksi.

Nostele lusikoiden avulla tai pursota pieniä kasoja vaahtoa leivinpaperille.

Marenki kohoaa hieman uunissa. Paista marenkeja 45 minuuttia 125 asteen lämmössä.

Säilytä marengit ilmatiiviissä purkissa.

 

 I started May Day brunc preparatons already on Sunday by making pesto for potato salad and baking meringues.

Yesterday we decorated with paper flowers and garland, tonight we will pipe home made cocktail sausages, cut fruits and vegetables ready for salads, bake cup cakes etc. so we will be quite ready tomorrow morning.

Lemon and mint meringues

 

3 egg whites

2.5 dl of caster sugar or 2 dl powdered sugar

2 teaspoons of lemon juice or vinegar

 

Beat the egg whites until stiff with electric mixer. Add the sugar in small portions while foaming vigorously. Continue until the foam is shiny and smooth.

Add food coloring and mix with a teaspoon in meringue until color is even. You can also divide the meringue and color sections with different colors. I doubled the recipe and I divided it into two, one part I dyed yellow and seasoned with  lemon peel and lemon oil. The second part I seasoned with peppermint oil and dyed green.

Drop or pipe small mounds of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheets.

Meringue rises slightly in the oven. Bake the meringues for 45 minutes in 125 degrees.

Store the meringues in an airtight container.

Kevät etenee; lumikellotkin alkavat hiljalleen lakastumaan ja puihin alkaa ilmaantua silmuja.

Kotikulmillamme meren läheisyydessä on mikroilmasto, kevät on yleensä hieman jäljessä kun merestä hohkaa kylmää ja syksyllä taas puut ovat viikon verran kauemmin vihreinä meren lämmittäessä. Sisämaasta (esim. 10 km) päästä ajaessa lämpötilaero voi olla kolmekin astetta.

Eilen ranta verhoutui kosteaan, koleaan usvaan kun jonkun kilometrin päässä oli aivan kirkasta.

Spring is getting forward; snowbells are slowly ending blooming and buds of leafs are growing.

We live nearby sea, there is a micro climate in the area. Spring arrives about a week later, when the sea is still cold and in the fall leaves turn yellow about a week later when warm sea keeps the air also warmer.

Yesterday beach was covered with thick, cold fog, while few kilometers away sun was shining warmly.

Muddy tones

Kun töissä puhun kuvan sävyistä asiakkaiden kanssa, käytän nimitystä nutria, kollegoiden kanssa puhumme mudasta. Kansainväliset verkkokaupat taas käyttävät sävystä nimeä mushroom eli sieni.

Sävy käy aika monen muun värin kanssa, joten omasta kaapistakin sitä löytyy. Uusimpina hankintoina Ellokselta isohko nahkainen clutch-laukku 50% alesta. En oikein osaa käyttää olkahihnattomia laukkuja, mutta tämän kanssa voin harjoitella... Laukku on riittävän iso, siihen mahtuu Sony Nex-minijärkkärini jopa uuden 50 mm linssin kanssa (aiempi 30 mm linssi oli vähnän matalampi ja meni hyvinkin pieniin laukkuihin. Se kuitenkin sai hieman itseensä ja tarkennuksesta tuli jäykkä. Uusi linssi on myös valovoimaisempi) ilman, että laukku näyttää täyteen ahdetulta. Jollen opi käyttämään tätä laukkuna, voin aina pitää sitä kosmetiikkapussina.

Elloksen vaatteita en edelleenkään pidä kovinkaan kummoisina, mutta kotona on Elloksen joulun alla hankittu villamatto ja tämä clutchkin ilahdutti hinta/laatusuhteella. Molemmat on toki hankittu 50% alennuksella, tuskin muutkaan ostavat Ellokselta normaalihinnoin, niin usein siellä tuntuu olevan alennuksia.

Espanjalaisen Taupagen nahkaballerinat ovat Zalandolta. Merkki on minulle aiemmin täysin tuntematon, mutta jossain blogissa näin kuvan näistä ja  hups heijaa, pian oli pari klikattu ostoskoriin vaikka olen inhonnut Zalandon mainoksia ja ajatellut, etten halua tilata sieltä mitään... Olen kesäisin ballerinojen suurkuluttaja ja vanhat nudet ballerinani eivät ole enää ihan edustuskelpoiset. Sen sijaan kaupunkilaismarjastaja voi mennä vanhoilla baltsuilla metsään... uudet ovat ihanan pehmeät ja laadukkaasti valmistetut ja hinta oli alennuskoodia käyttäen alle 60 €.

Koru on Mariian valmistama äitini Shanghaista tuomista savukvartseista ja huivin ostin Pariisista 1½ vuotta sitten.

When  I'm talking about the above tones with clients at work, I call the color nutria,  among colleagues we call it mud. International online shops have named the tone as mushroom.

This color goes along well with many other shades and I have it quite a lot in my warderobe as well. The newest acquisitions is a fairly large leather clutch bag  from Ellos, with  50%  discount. I do not really use much bags without shoulder straps, but with this one I can practice ... The bag is large enough to accommodate my Sony Nex interchangeable lens camera with the new 50 mm lens (previous 30 mm lens was a bit flatter and fit in very small bags. However, the old lens got a little bump and became rigidwas harder to adjust. My new lens is also brighter) without looking funny. If I do not get to use this as bag, I can always keep it as cosmetics pouch.

Ellos clothes I still don't find interesting, but I have at home a wool rug from Ellos and this clutch lso has a good price / quality ratio. Both are of course purchased with 50% discount. I believe nobody buys from them with normal prices, so often there seems to be discounts available.


Spanish Taupage's leather ballerinas I bought from Zalando. The brand was previously unknown to me, but I saw a picture  of these in a blog  and hey presto, jsut a click and they were in my shopping basket.I have hated the Zalando ads and thought that I don't want to order from there ... In the sumemr I live in ballerina flats and my old nude ballerinas are no longer presentable. Instead I can still wear them when I go picking berries in the woods ... The new ones are wonderfully soft and beautifully made ​​and the price below € 60 with discount code was right.
