Tapio Wirkkala exhibition at Emma



I was invited to the opening of Tapio Wirkkala exhibition at  Emma, Espoo museum of modern art. Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) is maybe best known for his glass designs, but this exhibition consentrated on Wirkkala as sculptor. He made made amazing plywood sculptures. Besides plywood, there are  glass and plexi sculptures, wood, metal and ceramic birds, competition sketches for public sculptures and the artist’s drawings to be seen at Emma.
